I have a HP GF343AT SuperMulti LightScribe DVD Burner, that worked fine before my install of Windows 10. Now it does not appear as a drive in the start menu or in task manager. It has disappeared. It is in the Windows 10 compatibility center, showing as compatible.
HP does not provide a driver for it. I have an unknown device appearing in my task manager which may be the DVD burner but Windows 10 Update will not find a driver for it. Mechanically it functions normally, but does not interact with video and sound. Any ideas, anyone? Thanks for listening.
Have the same problem with an HP TS H-653T after installing Windows 10 Home over Windows 7, SP1 in an HP Pavilion Slimline S5000 which was working fully just before and during the upgrade. Used the internal DVD R/RW to read MS Win 10 Home.ISO burned on a DVD.
Maybe, accidentally allowed Win 10 to delete unused programs but now cannot find any optical drives at all in the Device Manager. No SATA drivers either.
My installed HP DVD player no longer recognizes the drive, although it functions mechanically using the eject button, spins DVDs and blinks the laser.
I have a call into HP support and hope that Microsoft will offer a patch or upgrade soon to restore optical drives.

1. Tried Restore from my last Windows 7 backup but only updated Registry, did not remove Windows 10.

2. Already tried HP Recovery, stored in D:/ on a segmented HDD but cannot find any repair options for DVD. I also tried reinstalling the Lightscribe software but still no optical drive.
3. My last option might be to restore factory defaults and restore Windows 7 from weekly backups.
